This work is part of the exhibition 'Rare Element' currently on at TBA until 31st May in Vienna.

These glass panels contain lithium solutions in various concentrations are installed in the TBA-Augarten for the exhibition and look like stained glass windows. The artist through this work conveys the relationship between Lithium and the Rare Earth Elements.

The whole show is made up of work from 17 different artists, each assigned a rare element to portray.  For a psychiatrist like me with a large number of patients suffering from Bipolar Affective Disorder and being treated with Lithium Carbonate at varying doses, this show has an altogether different meaning.

When I  the stained glass panels differing in the way the respond to light according to their Lithium concentrations, I think of my patients and how the different medication doses of this mood stabiliser will allow each one of them to remain well and stable despite the severe mental illness they have been diagnosed with.
